Centella Asiatica, also known as “Gotu Kola”, is a perennial plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. It grows in moist environments and is widespread in Asia, especially in India and Sri Lanka. Centella Asiatica has round, green leaves and slender, creeping stems. It is classified as an adaptogenic herb.
Chemical Composition: Terpenes (asiatic acid, madecassic acid), saponins, flavonoids, vitamins (especially vitamin C), and alkaloids. These components work together to provide anti-inflammatory, healing, and antioxidant actions.
Pharmacological Properties and Actions:
