Erica cinerea is an evergreen, low-growing shrub of the Ericaceae family, found mainly in acidic, poor soils of Western and Southern Europe. It has slender, linear leaves and characteristic small pink–purple flowers, which appear mainly in summer. For the preparation of the tincture, the flowering aerial parts are primarily used.
