Η αγριοδαμασκηνιά είναι φυλλοβόλος θάμνος της οικογένειας Rosaceae, με αγκάθια, μικρά λευκά άνθη την άνοιξη και σκούρους καρπούς (τσάουρα ή σλοές). Στη φυτοθεραπεία χρησιμοποιούνται κυρίως τα άνθη, τα φύλλα και οι καρποί.
