Chemical Composition of the Tincture

Pharmacological Actions and Properties
1. Digestive tonic
- Promotes the secretion of gastric juices and improves dyspepsia.
- Relieves bloating, gas and heartburn.
2. Antispasmodic and antiemetic
- Reduces nausea and stomach cramps.
3. Sedative and anxiolytic
- Used to manage anxiety and mild insomnia.
4. Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory
- Used externally in washes for cleansing wounds or irritations.
5. Nervous system tonic
- Stimulates mental function and enhances concentration in small doses.
Indications for Use:
- Dyspepsia, heartburn and flatulence
- Nausea and vomiting
- Anxiety and insomnia
- Spastic digestive syndromes (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome)
- External use for skin irritations and wounds
Dosage:
10–20 drops in water or herbal infusion, 1–2 times a day, before meals.
Precautions and Side Effects:
- Possible toxicity: Asarone may cause toxic reactions in high doses or with long-term use.
- Contraindicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children.
- Neurotoxic effects: High doses may cause headache, drowsiness or nervous system disturbances.
- Interactions: Do not take together with sedatives or alcohol.
