Ceterach officinarum is a small, perennial plant of the Aspleniaceae family, also known as the "rustyback fern" due to the characteristic reddish-brown hairs on the underside of its leaves. It grows in rocky crevices, walls and calcareous soils in Europe and the Mediterranean. Its leaves are pinnatifid, with a green upper surface and a rusty underside, with spores distributed along the veins.
