SAGE CHARACTERISTICS
Sage is one of the most beloved aromatic plants of the Mediterranean flora. Sage is a perennial shrub, reaching a height of 30-60 centimeters. The leaves of sage are narrowly oblong, leathery and usually have a whitish-green or gray-green color.
The herb blooms from May to June and bears very characteristic purple or white flowers with an intense characteristic aroma. Sage is found as a wild, native plant in Greece, mainly in areas of the Peloponnese and Crete.
It is a fairly hardy plant and its flowering is favored by sufficient sunshine. Its leaves should be harvested before flowering when the essential oils have reached their highest yield.
HISTORY
During the Middle Ages, sayings were created referring to the healing properties and value of the plant, such as “Why should someone die who has sage in his garden?” Over the course of history, the herb acquired other names, such as Salvia salvatrix, which means “wise savior,” as it was one of the ingredients in a herbal mixture that was said to have combated the plague.
It was also used by the ancient Egyptians as a fertility medicine for women. The ancient Greek physician, Dioscorides, used the herb to stop bleeding wounds and heal skin ulcers, and to treat coughs and sore throats.
Sage is an ancient symbol of wisdom and immortality. In the Middle Ages it symbolized virtue, and in the Victorian era its presence in the garden signified a cheerful and welcoming home.

It has been valued for its expectorant properties, its ability to remove accumulated fire and blood stagnation, effectively helps normalize the monthly cycle in women, charges the entire body with Qi (vital force) and calms the spirit (Shen).
It is connected to the heart – pericardium – liver meridians.
RECOMMENDATION
Alcohol in variable proportions (50% - 90%), gaseous parts (leaves), of the plant Salvia officinalis.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF SALVIA OFFICINALIS – SAGE Thujone, alkaloids, tannins, phenolic compounds, terpenes, rosmarinic acid, luteolin-7-glucoside, caffeic acid, 3-caffeoylquinic acid, chlorogenic acid, ellagic acid, epicatechin and other compounds.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- 30 drops diluted in 1/2 glass of water.
- 1-2 times a day for a specific period of time or as directed by the doctor or pharmacist.
